We are currently managing a new indoor strawberry production facility in Strathroy, Ontario, where we’re implementing advanced growing systems to support high?quality, year?round fruit production.
We’re hiring a
Head Grower for our Strathroy site, featuring 18 acres of glass and 5 acres of poly greenhouses going live this August. This fully climate?controlled, substrate?based operation requires a grower who can oversee all plant production and crop management while collaborating closely with Glassbox on protocols, IPM, biocontrol, and yield predictions. This is a hands?on role that involves daily crop walks, troubleshooting, and leading the team in best?practice growing techniques.
We are open to candidates with other indoor grow experience with other crops such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, etc.

Your focus areas:
- Lead all daily indoor substrate growing operations, including planting, irrigation, fertigation, pruning, and crop care.
- Develop and manage crop plans, planting schedules, and crop?steering strategies to ensure consistent, high?quality production.
- Monitor and optimize irrigation, fertigation, and climate settings using systems to maintain ideal growing conditions.
- Implement and oversee an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program and coordinate safe, compliant spray applications.
- Supervise, train, and schedule a team while maintaining strong communication across departments.
- Create and enforce SOPs and daily checklists to ensure efficiency, consistency, and operational clarity.
- Collect and analyze crop, climate, and production data to improve yield and report insights to the Head of Growing Operations.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and food?safety protocols across all growing activities.
Requirements:
- Ability to work in a start-up environment that is fast-paced
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in greenhouse or indoor controlled?environment production, with a strong emphasis on fruit and/or vegetable production
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong knowledge of climate controlled systems, irrigation, plant nutrition, fertigation, IPM, and crop management.
- Ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and make data?driven decisions.
