Wolheter Farms is hiring a Farm Equipment Operator – Mechanic to join our team in South Milford, IN (about 35 miles north of Fort Wayne). In this role you will operate, maintain, and repair farm machinery and agriculture equipment throughout our farming operation. We run a variety of John Deere tractors and combines, along with New Holland heavy equipment.

What you will be doing:
- Operate farm and agriculture equipment to assist with planting, spraying, and harvesting activities
- Perform routine maintenance on farm machinery, trucks, and vehicles
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Complete general maintenance including oil changes, tire repair, and equipment rebuilds
- Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime during peak agriculture seasons
- Maintain detailed records of repairs and parts used
- Perform welding repairs on farm machinery and agriculture equipment as needed
- Complete carpentry and electrical work to maintain farm buildings and facilities
- Maintain grain handling systems and equipment including grain dryers
- Install new field tile and repair existing tile systems
- Assist with hauling grain as needed
This job is for you if you have:
- Strong knowledge of farm machinery, agriculture equipment, and heavy equipment
- Experience operating sprayers and other farm equipment in a production agriculture setting
- Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems
- CDL license is a plus
- A responsible, detail oriented, and team focused attitude
- Ability to work extended hours, including up to 80 hours per week during peak farm seasons
- Strong communication skills and motivation to work as part of a farm team
- Flexibility to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced agriculture environment
