Job Description:
At Syngenta, our goal is to build the most collaborative and trustworthy team in agriculture, providing top-quality seeds and innovative crop protection solutions that improve farmers' success. To support this mission, Syngenta's Genotyping Team is seeking a Business Efficiency Lead in Malta, IL. This role will drive cost optimization and strategic procurement across Syngenta's global genotyping operations.
The Genotyping Business Efficiency Lead serves as the bridge between operational teams and procurement, coordinating consumable strategies across business units to maximize value through volume alignment, strategic sourcing, and supply chain risk management.
Accountabilities:
Cost Management & Optimization
- Design, implement, and monitor productivity and cost reduction initiatives across global operations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive unit cost models for genotyping services.
- Establish and track efficiency metrics with regular reporting to stakeholders.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through process improvements and technology optimization.
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Coordinate global genotyping consumable strategies across all business units.
- Drive volume consolidation and standardization opportunities.
- Lead supplier relationship management and performance evaluation.
- Partner with Global Procurement on strategic sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, and supplier diversification.
Supply Chain Management
- Monitor and mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities.
- Develop contingency strategies for critical consumables.
- Ensure business continuity through proactive risk assessment.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, Industrial, Biotechnology), Agronomy, Biology, Business Administration or related field.
Experience (One of the following)
- 3-5+ years in business efficiency, procurement management, or operational excellence roles.
- 5-7+ years in genotyping/sequencing operations with exposure to cost management.
Technical Expertise
- Financial modeling and data analysis capabilities.
- Deep understanding of genotyping and/or next-generation sequencing technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project).
- Experience with project management tools (Smartsheet, Mural, or similar platforms preferred).
