We are seeking a motivated
Shop Manager at our Stockton, CA location. This position reports directly to the Branch Manager.
Position Overview
The Shop Manager oversees the daily production of light-to-medium duty trailers, ensuring all units are built to high-quality standards. This role involves leading a team of 10 welders, assemblers, and fabricators to meet aggressive production schedules and customer delivery dates.
This is a
working manager role, requiring hands-on involvement in day-to-day shop activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shop operations and production
- Lead and support a team of 10 welders, assemblers, and fabricators
- Participate in hands-on labor as needed
- Schedule and assign jobs and tasks to shop personnel
- Open, update, maintain, and close shop work orders
- Manage finished trailer inventory
- Maintain proper stocking levels of manufacturing materials
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working condition
- Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure quality work meets expectations
- Collaborate closely with other departments and managers
- Utilize computer systems (Word, Excel, internal operating system)
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong “whatever it takes” attitude
- Proven experience leading and managing a team
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and stay organized
- Hands-on experience with:
- Mechanics
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Assembly
- Experience with pumps, plumbing, and spray application systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and related applications
- Experience with shop work order management
- Basic understanding of financial principles
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks (bending, kneeling, lifting)
- High School diploma or GED required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in shop/service department management and operations
Compensation
- $80,000 - $100,000 base salary + incentive
