Position Description:
The successful candidate will be required to maintain and work many different ranch jobs, but focusing on being part of the Cowboy Crew on the TS Ranch. Tasks include but are not limited to: caring for cattle, vaccinating, branding, weaning, shipping, doctoring, feeding, etc; performs other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will work within the livestock division of NGM's agricultural operations. Candidate will be part of a busy, fast moving team and will complete tasks associated with the care and handling of livestock. Candidate will split time between multiple ranch locations between Carlin, NV and Battle Mountain, NV. Candidate will monitor cattle by observing livestock to identify sick, injured or stressed animals and provide needed care. Candidate will assist with branding, weaning, processing, shipping, receiving, calving, and general animal welfare, etc. Job sometimes will require early mornings and often long days horseback. Candidate will periodically be required to complete feeding, fencing and other maintenance activities, among other tasks as assigned.

Livestock Production
- Assist manager in the development and implementation of production plans and budgets for assigned herd(s)
- Create weekly plans and submit to the manager
- Actively be responsible for the maintenance and care of ranch equipment and infrastructure
- Continuously seek for cost saving opportunities for effective and efficient operations
- Organize/Lead pasture moves, branding and weaning works for assigned livestock/pastures
- Oversee day-to-day care of assigned livestock
- Assure stock water quality and availability
- Manage forage quality and availability for livestock
- Maintenance of fence and other livestock infrastructure
- Dedication to best practices in animal husbandry (vaccination and doctoring protocols)
- Demonstrate principles of stockmanship
- Train livestock to handle by feel, not force
- Reduce stress levels in people, cattle, and horses alike
- Achieve a minimum 90% pregnancy rate and Wean at least 90% of those confirmed pregnancies
- Submit developed inventories monthly of assigned duties to the manager
- Cattle, Horses, Feed, Supplements, Antibiotics, Supplies, etc.
- Support other herdsman in cattle works as possible
- Strive to use processed feed strategically and purposefully
- Support other team members as required
- Ask for help when necessary
- Assist with irrigation as assigned/needed
Natural Resources
- Prioritize stewardship and conservation of natural resources
- Assist management in the creation of annual grazing plans with an eye focused on the future
- Reduce overgrazing of plants on rangelands and irrigated fields by developing/incorporating rest and utilization objectives based on goals
- Familiarize yourself with BLM permits and be responsible for ensuring company compliance
- Complete Grazing Response Index (GRI) for each pasture assigned
- Track and report "Actual Use" for each assigned pasture
- Observe and report opportunities for vegetative treatments when found
Qualifications:
- Prior Cowboy experience on Rangeland or Feedlot Operations required
- Ability to operate heavy equipment located on Ranches required
- Valid Nevada driver's license required
- Ability to be self motivated & able to work alone in remote locations required
- Ability to work in all climate conditions including high allergy conditions required
- Ability to be able to lift 50+ pounds required
- Ability to provide all horse tack required
- Ability to shoe horses required
- Access to personal horses, not required but highly desired
- Housing included with Job Offer but must be able to live on the ranch (Likely near TS Ranch, Dunphy, Nevada
