The Assistant Feedyard Manager will work closely with the Feedyard Manager and corporate leadership to oversee all aspects of feedlot operations including cattle care, feeding programs, personnel management, safety compliance, and operational performance.
Responsibilities include assisting in the supervision and coordination of all departments including feed mill, yard operations, cattle handling, feed delivery, and office functions. This individual will help implement and maintain best management practices, standard operating procedures, and company policies to ensure consistent, high-quality performance across the operation.
The role will also involve working alongside Human Resources to recruit, train, and develop employees while providing ongoing performance feedback and maintaining a strong team-oriented work environment. This position will serve as a liaison between corporate leadership and the feedyard to support communication, implementation of new technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with budgeting, monitoring operational and capital expenditures, and reporting weekly and monthly feedlot performance. The Assistant Manager will help ensure proper animal husbandry practices, maintain pen stocking densities, and coordinate with nutritionists and veterinarians to support animal health and welfare.
This individual will also oversee maintenance of facilities and equipment, ensure compliance with all safety standards, and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient working environment. Strong attention to detail is required to monitor inventory, safeguard assets, and support accurate financial reporting.
The Assistant Feedyard Manager will play a critical role in building and maintaining relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the surrounding community while supporting the long-term success and growth of the operation.
