Position Summary:
The Ranch Hand Working with Horses / ATV’s / Youth Activities is responsible for the following: Working with 9 Horses Daily; Riding Horses Daily; Cleaning Stalls Daily; and Daily Property Maintenance on 15 Acres in Manor Texas. Also this person would be responsible for the upkeep, functionality, safety, and cleanliness of all AAYHF-managed and leased properties. This position supports youth programs, warehouse functions, and vehicle/equipment operations. The ideal candidate will have solid Animal Care Experience and Ground Maintenance Experience, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Key Responsibilities:
Taking Care of 9 Horses Daily
· Feeding all the Horses Daily
· Cleaning the Stalls
· Riding the Horses
· Grooming the Horses
· Work with Kids and Horses
· Have Experience with Gated Horses; Studs; Tennessee Walkers
· General Horse Training
Grounds & Facility Maintenance:
- Maintain lawns, trails, and outdoor activity areas using AAYHF-provided equipment (zero-turn mower, weed eater, etc.)
- Keep properties functional, clean, and secure at all times
- Perform Minor Carpentry repairs
- Keep Grass Cut at all Times
- Maintain and repair lawn equipment (fix flats, sharpen blades, etc.)
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform basic maintenance on 2 vans, a box truck, a bus, and ATVs (oil changes, fluid checks, tires, etc.)
- Keep all AAYHF vehicles clean (inside and out), serviced, and fueled
- Support warehouse operations including moving boxes and organizing inventory
- Assist with horse/animal area needs and equipment used at the ranch
General Support & Program Assistance:
- Provide janitorial services for buildings and restrooms on the Ranch
- Install shelving, fans, or minor fixtures as needed
- Assist with setup and teardown for youth and family programs, including outdoor tents
- Help facilitate Youth Apprentice Program activities
- Keep maintenance logs and input data into AAYHF tracking systems
- We have 10 ATV’s, and they need to stay well Maintained and Clean at all Times
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years Riding Horses and taking care of Horse Stalls
- Minimum 7–10 years of facility/property maintenance experience
- Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record (CDL a plus)
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Proven ability to complete physical tasks (lifting 50+ lbs, working outdoors)
- Verifiable work references required
- Must have reliable transportation
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends/evenings
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Experience operating zero-turn mowers and other landscaping equipment
- Familiarity with small engine repairs (ATVs, lawn equipment, etc.)
- Knowledge of general handyman tasks (painting, minor electrical, plumbing)
- Ability to mentor or assist in youth apprentice training when needed
- Technically inclined: able to input data and use maintenance software/tools
- Professional appearance and demeanor required at all times
Major Responsibilities:
- Submit weekly reports summarizing maintenance activity across all sites
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards for all properties and vehicles
- Coordinate with staff and youth program teams for facility-related needs
- Uphold confidentiality and support the AAYHF mission and values
- Adhere to cultural sensitivity and diversity standards within the organization

This is a full-time, contracted role. AAYHF reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time due to unsatisfactory performance, lack of professionalism, or failure to meet job requirements.
