Position: Ranch Manager
Full-time (5 days/week)
Pay $45,000 - $52,000 annually, raise opportunity, option for medical benefits, and paid vacation after 3 months employment. W-2, not contract work.
Housing and basic utilities provided, living on ranch required
Great job available at a small (25 acre) show horse breeding ranch! We raise reining horses so many of the horses on the property are young and need someone experienced with horses working around them. Candidate must be dedicated to a high standard of care for our horses and enjoy working with them and working outdoors.
Employee will be responsible for keeping the ranch in good working order 5 days a week and can work either with someone or be motivated working on their own. Occasional weekend time will be required as well as being present on property when owner is traveling.
Candidate must be able to run a mid size tractor, UTV, manure spreader, riding lawnmower, weed eater, and other small equipment. This job is primarily horse care but ranch maintenance is also part of the job. THIS IS NOT A RIDING POSITION.
Duties:
Feeding and watering 10-20 horses twice daily
Handling horses for grooming, holding for vet and farrier, giving medications as directed
Seasonal tasks such as assisting with mare and foal management; evening hay and blanketing
Facility maintenance, including cleaning stalls, barn, feed/hay storage, dragging round pen
Pasture maintenance, including shredding, manure spreading, weed eating
Light equipment maintenance (lubrication, fuel, air up tires)
Picking up and unloading feed and hay
Qualifications:
Experience with horses a must!
Able to work in all weather conditions
Able to lift 50lb feed bags and 50-70lb hay bales, able to be standing or walking most of the day
Able to use a tractor, UTV, manure spreader, weed eater, small power equipment
Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
Knowledgeable about safety around large animals and ranch equipment
Background check & references required, valid drivers license
Housing is a nice guest house style partially furnished appropriate for a single person or couple; electricity/water/internet utilities paid for. Pay depending on experience, bonuses available for extra work and raise available after training period is completed. Benefits after 3 months employment.
