As a Fertilizer and Weed Control Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining healthy lawns, addressing customer concerns, and ensuring every lawn gets the care it needs to thrive. If you're passionate about horticulture, customer service, and working outdoors, we want to hear from you!
A Day in the Life:
- Apply fertilizer and weed control treatments for residential customers.
- Educate the Customer Service Representative team about our products and services.
- Recommend products and services to new and existing customers, contributing to company growth.
- Address customer concerns and questions, making effective decisions under pressure.
- Update customer records and create new files as necessary.
- Complete daily production reports, vehicle inspections, and labor/material cost reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including work sites and equipment.
- Assist team members with route adjustments and questions.
- Operate spray equipment and spread treatments safely and effectively.
- Monitor and complete service routes via dispatching software.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to Managers.
- Troubleshoot mobile apps and resolve technical issues when needed.
- Foster positive customer interactions and maintain strong relationships with team members.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
What It Takes:
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent knowledge of horticulture, weed control, and fertilization practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English (read, write, and speak).
- Familiarity with the Austin/San Antonio areas with strong map-reading skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work well with a team in person and by company phone
- Professional mindset with a focus on positive customer relationships
- Ability to multitask and troubleshoot independently
- Computer skills; experience with Service Autopilot is a plus.
- Comfortable with scheduling, routing, and using spreadsheets for tracking and analysis
Experience Required:
- 2+ years of recent experience with similar lawn care providers.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of herbicides (general and restricted use) and tools/equipment related to lawn care.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity).
- Occasional exposure to wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, and insects.
- Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Strong hand and arm dexterity for handling tools and equipment.
- Must be able to perform basic math calculations, including discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume.
- Daily travel required with driving and sitting for extended periods; routes in the Austin and San Antonio areas.
