Summary
Reports To: Career and Technology Education Assistant Director Pay Grade: [M4] -260 Days Hours: 7 am - 4 pm (40 Hr work Week)
Primary Purpose
Support the daily operation, cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of the agricultural barn and related facilities. Ensure a safe and functional environment for students, staff, and livestock by performing custodial duties, basic maintenance, and grounds upkeep in both indoor and outdoor agricultural settings.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma preferred
- Valid Texas driver's license preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Basic knowledge of livestock facilities, animal care environments, and barn operations preferred
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment, hand tools, and basic power tools
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently in outdoor environments
- Knowledge of farm equipment and implements
Experience:
- Experience in custodial work, maintenance, agriculture, or livestock environments preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Clean and maintain barns, animal pens, wash racks, tack rooms, restrooms, and storage areas
- Monitor and maintain safe, clean environments for student animal projects
- Assist in maintaining proper drainage and preventing flooding in barn areas
- Repair and maintain fencing, gates, pens, and livestock containment systems
- Perform minor facility repairs and report major maintenance needs
- Maintain walkways, work areas, and common spaces to ensure student safety
- Support setup and breakdown for livestock shows, student projects, and events
- Operate and maintain equipment and tools following safety procedures
- Assist with moving equipment, materials, and supplies as needed
- Follow all district policies, safety procedures, and agricultural facility guidelines
- Collaborate with Security Systems Specialist, agriculture teachers, and CTE Department for student/guest access to the agriculture facility including assisting with additions, deletions, reports, and maintenance of gates and gate control systems.
- Accurate and consistent use of district time clock program and work order tracking system.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Ability to operate District computers and related technologies, farm tractors and implements, lawn tractors and implements, farm and ranch tools, livestock equipment, custodial supplies and equipment, a truck with trailer, landscape tools and implements, and a variety of hand and power tools.

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing
- Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy loads
- Work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain)
- Exposure to dust, odors, noise, and biological elements including livestock
- Work on uneven, muddy, or slippery surfaces
- Valid Texas Driver's License with a driving record that meets the requirements of the District.
- Individual must pass a pre-employment physical examination to include vision, hearing, alcohol and drug testing.
